HARLOT X / Issue 01: Fluid
A ZINE FOR + BY TRANS SEX WORKERS.
In a cis-centric world, we are always looking for a gender playground.
Through this zine, we wanted to give trans and gender divergent sex workers the opportunity to explore what it means to feel fluid. What role does the heightened performance of gender play in our work and our lives? How does it feel to transform? Is sex work the playground we are seeking?
It has been a whirlwind of a time curating this zine - from the first Instagram conversations to releasing it online, things have never stopped changing. In a time of global pandemic, of economic collapse, of continued police brutality against Black and Indigenous communities, of civil uprising, of community organizing and mutual aid, trans sex workers have continued (as we always do) to fight the good fight, even when our incomes and our potential to connect with clients has been thrown into peril. We wanted to feature the many powerful artists who make up our communities across Turtle Island and beyond. Thanks to all of the organizations who boosted our call, and our friends who supported us along the way. We so deeply appreciate you, and we’ll see you at work.
